Bridgepoint, GFH Bank and AIP Capital launch aircraft engine leasing platform worth more than $1bn (£755.5m)

Alternative Credit Investor · 2026-10-13

Middle East & Africa

Bridgepoint, GFH Bank and AIP Capital have launched an aircraft engine leasing platform worth more than $1bn. It will buy engines and lease them to airlines, maintenance, repair and overhaul providers and other operators. GFH, a Bahrain-based bank with more than $25bn in assets and funds under management, is cornerstone investor and strategic partner, and the deal is its first entry into aviation. Bridgepoint funds and AIP also commit capital. Bridgepoint and AIP first teamed up in 2024 on an initial portfolio of LEAP-1B engines, and in July agreed to buy 11 more from CFM International. All three partners will now raise money from institutional and private wealth investors as they scale toward the platform's target. AIP leads sourcing, asset management and trading, and Bridgepoint says the tie-up deepens its presence in the Middle East.

109 of 2,193 mature PE funds show high paper IRR but under 60% of cash returned

LP-reported PE · 2026-06-30

Global

Across the tracked plans' own reports, 109 mature funds (vintage 2019 or earlier, larger commitments) report net IRR of 12%+ while having returned less than 60% of contributed cash. A high IRR with little cash back is a mark, not a result — the distinction DPI makes. Structural gaps the scorecard surfaces: New Jersey DOI publish(es) no fund-level net IRR at all. The full per-plan disclosure scorecard is on the transparency page.
