Launches, closes and wind-downs

CD&R raises about $20bn in six months towards $26bn flagship buyout fund

Private Equity Wire · 2026-10-29

North America

Clayton, Dubilier & Rice has raised about $20bn for Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Fund XIII within six months of launching the raise, according to Bloomberg.

  • Target: That puts the US buyout firm on course for its $26bn target.
  • Investors: The pace is roughly double the predecessor's, which had attracted about $10bn over a comparable period in 2023, and several existing LPs are reported to have increased their commitments.
  • Size: Documents from the Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System, which has committed up to $200m, show a hard cap of $28.5bn.
  • Timing: CD&R is reportedly aiming for a final close in the first quarter of 2027, which could place the fund among the largest buyout vehicles ever raised.
  • Strategy: Unlike many rival alternative managers, CD&R has kept its focus exclusively on private equity rather than expanding into private credit or private wealth.

ACORE Capital closes second opportunistic real estate credit fund at $1.1bn, above target

Alternative Credit Investor · 2026-10-29

North America

US commercial real estate manager ACORE Capital has closed ACORE Opportunistic Credit II (AOC II) at $1.1bn (£820m), above its original $1bn target.

  • Investors: Commitments came from a range of institutional investors.
  • Scale: The fund is more than four times the size of its predecessor and has already committed $400m across 14 investments.
  • Context: ACORE launched the opportunistic credit strategy in 2020, and the firm says it has committed $1.34bn to opportunistic credit investments since it was founded in 2015.
  • Team: Matthew Drummond, head of high yield strategies, pointed to a significant basis reset across many asset classes.
  • Strategy: He said this creates room to finance business plans built on today's discounted valuations.
  • Strategy: The firm adds that the current dislocation lets credit investors fund those plans from a more senior position in the capital structure.

SS&C opens Luxembourg office combining alternative and retail fund servicing

Global Custodian · 2026-10-29

Europe

SS&C opened a Luxembourg office on 15 October, the first time its alternatives arm, SS&C GlobeOp, and its retail transfer agency business have shared an address.

  • Scale: The alternatives side supports 57 clients and more than $100bn, including committed capital, across 450-plus vehicles.
  • Context: The retail side administers $360bn across more than 380 funds and has run alone since SS&C and State Street ended their IFDS joint venture in October 2025.
  • Strategy: A recently granted depositary light licence now lets SS&C offer custody there for the first time.
